Shawn Rey Smith is a NY native. A musical prodigy, it wasn't hard to imagine that he would go into the entertainment business. Shawn got his start and training at home. Along with his brothers and sister, Shawn's talents were cultivated as a musician and singer in his family's church, Zion Tabernacle Deliverance Church Ministries, based in Queens NY, under the careful direction of his mother, gospel singer Starlett Attmore (Smith). Beginning his career at the age of 17,  he has co-written, produced, engineered and provided instrumentation to sound & live recordings since 1998.

An alumni of the prestigious Bayside High School Academy of Music Conservatory, at 15 he decided, “This is what I’m doing, and I’m doing it, because it’s what I love.” His efforts began in the basement of his house, and took him all over the country. His uncle, Bryan "Boogz" Attmore provided the framework, guidance and honed the production skill early on to the already blooming musicianship. After working with Lil’ Mo at the age of 17, he went on to contribute and learn with greats such as Kelly Price, Gerald Levert, and Patti Labelle, toured  with "Uncle" Charlie Wilson and the Gap Band, Rell, Case, and several others. Dinky Bingham, became a true mentor and taught him the ins and outs of the "business" & producing (from start to finish). Collaborative efforts with Rockwilder and other producers provided more exposure and development in a multi-genre span. 

The result has been steady and even. Shawn has produced individually and collectively with the Smith Brothers aka the BEATSMITHz worldwide. He also serves as Musical Director in a church in New York City. More than "beats", more than "tracks", within submergence of the digital music realm, Shawn is credited with a rapport and definition of what it really means to "produce", stemming beyond the surface in the recording industry. An eclectic sound, technical skill and wide range of style not only makes his music distinct, but undeniably streams a path all it's own.
